What is a preferred lender and why does your agent care who you're getting your pre-approval through? The first step of your home buying process is going to be getting pre-approved for a mortgage through a lender. What most buyers, especially first time buyers, don't realize is how much is done behind the scenes to ensure that your real estate goals are met. The better the working relationship between your lender and your Realtor, the better you'll be setup for success. As a Realtor, I put a lot of time and consideration into the partners I align myself with in order to put my clients in the absolute best buying position. Getting a pre-approval is easy. Getting a thoughtful, customized pre-approval based on your specific financial and real estate goals is not. I made a promise to myself early on in my career that I would not make recommendations for my clients that I would not utilize personally.
